Over the years Bankok has grown from a place near a river to a metro city that spans as many as six provinences. The citys main business areas are continuely expanding an d the area growing at a rapid pace.

The fast pace at which this city is growing stems from the Westerners that move to the area and the Thailand population that keeps growing and growing all the time. The city boasts several green zones. This means they are protected under the Department of National Forrestry. There are some areas which are classed almost as sacred land and the city is well known for its large green landscapes.

Lumphini Park is famous in Bankok and renowned as the central part of Bankok. This large peice of green land has been around since the 1920’s and many pagents and cermonies have been held here.

This was also home to the Japan soldiers during WW2. The park is closed at night time due to the large incident of robberies and vandalism and also the murders that have been reported to have happened in the land.

Some land was lost during the Asian Financial Crisis, but mostly the land that was wished to be protected has been protected from urbanisation. With the city being built up due to the increase in population, it is pleasant for locals to be able to see land that is untouched by humans and can be enjoyed by families and vistors.
